Meals on Wheels

“Meals on Wheels” is a community based service that enables the homebound or elderly to live on their own by providing them with two meals a day, five days a week.

Volunteers provide two meals per day Monday through Friday –a hot lunch and a cold supper. Available to homebound persons who are unable to shop for food or prepare meals because of a disability, temporary illness, or weakness following hospitalization.

Over 200 churches are involved with this program throughout the five county area. Volunteer visitors will go to client homes 1 time per week, and bring with them 7 home cooked meals. The program is intended for the elderly who are homebound.

The Food Stamp Program helps low-income people and families buy the food they need for good health.  You apply for benefits by completing a State application form.  Benefits are provided on an electronic card that is used like an ATM card and accepted at most grocery stores. (
